The following are my stances on issues we are facing:
EQUAL RIGHTS
DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION (DEI)
- I fully support DEI programs in our community, and especially in schools and the workplace.
- We need to fight attempts to repeal or weaken D&I programs.
- Losing diversity is a losing business. Whether it’s our schools, our businesses, our professional teams, or within the community; failing to recognize the value of diversity in our spaces only hurts Utah.

LGBTQ+ RIGHTS
- I am an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. This is where I learned UNITY in COMMUNITY.
- I support gay marriage, and LGBTQ+ rights in legal, medical, family planning, financial, and end-of-life considerations. Families come in all shapes and sizes, and we need to celebrate that. “It takes a village” is a fundamental concept that we all need to think about and embrace more.
- I support gender affirming care.
- Conversion therapy is bad science and should be banned. See statements from the Human Rights Campaign, and from GLAAD.

BOOK BANS
Please don’t go around banning books. It’s a bad look and makes people wonder why you can’t rely on your critical thinking skills. If you are truly afraid of ideas, you live in the wrong country for that. The proposed HB29 Sensitive Material Review Amendments is bad policy.
SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
ENVIRONMENT
- The Great Salt Lake Collaborative has stark warnings for the future of the Great Salt Lake and surrounding communities as its shores shrink and expose toxic dust. Global warming is impacting us, and the sooner we take action the better we can limit the severity of environmental change that affects our state.
- Inversions mean that Utah has some of the worst air quality in the nation, and this affects everyone who lives here. Staged, multi-year legislation to reduce traffic, promote remote work, improve public transportation, implement stricter emission regulations on vehicles and commercial production are all necessary.
- Water rights are coming to a legal loggerhead, and we need to prepare for a revision on shared water resources.
- We need to embrace clean energy, and that means investing in the development of clean energy technologies as well as producing jobs to replace economies built on fossil fuel industry.

GOOD GOVERNMENT
GERRYMANDERING
Utah has some of the best voting policies in the nation, but fall under extreme partisan gerrymandering. I support the lawsuit that Better Boundaries has brought forward, and expect to see this case brought before the Utah Supreme Court.
ELECTIONS
Utah has one of the best vote-by-mail systems in the United States. I want to keep our system of voting accessible, effective and secure. We don’t need barriers to access, and we shouldn’t need to opt-in to receive a ballot.
SOVEREIGNTY
Utah is a member state of the United States of America, and as such sovereignty is at the federal level. Attempts to usurp power from federal offices will turn into a FAFO moment for us.
CAMPAIGN SIGNAGE (Utah Code 20A-17-101)
I want to introduce a house bill on collection of campaign signage following completion of an election cycle. After a short collection period, remaining signs should be considered abandoned so that they can be taken down safely, without legal implications.
VEHICLE PLATE MAINTENANCE (Utah Code 41-1a-404(3)(b))
I also want to add verbiage on maintenance of Utah license plates to add “A person shall not erase the reflective coating of, paint over the reflective coating of, or alter a license plate to avoid visual or electronic capture of the license plate or its characters by state or local law enforcement.”
STRONG COMMUNITIES
HEALTHCARE
- Work to expand Medicaid in Utah.
- On abortion, a woman’s health is between her and her medical doctor, full stop.
- On birth control and sexually transmitted diseases, I believe that services need to be generally available to the public that start with appropriate sex education in schools.
- Mental health is health.
- Transgender health is health. I support gender affirming care.

POLICE
- Maintain rigorous integrity for officers and administration that includes periodic background checks, independent 3rd party investigation for internal audits and complaints, and de-certification of police personnel who violate their oath.
- Expand community training in police programs that focus on internal bias, mental health, de-escalation, and availability of community services.
- Build partnerships and funding for community support services that change first response for domestic and mental health issues.

FIREARMS/2A
- Gun rights and Second Amendment rights are not going away, and there is no slippery slope for us to go down. Reasonable gun legislation requires that all parties are on board to write and enact.
- Gun control is necessary. We are ALL able to recount stories about how gun access and use have irrevocably changed the lives of someone, whether directly, in our social circle, or in our community. Prayers and platitudes mean nothing without action and accountability. You have to decide whether you are a part of a solution, or part of a growing problem.
- I support adherence and enforcement of federal restrictions on firearms.
- No more guns in schools

REFERENCE
The Utah House of Representatives is the lower chamber of the Utah State Legislature. Alongside the Utah State Senate, it forms the legislative branch of the Utah state government to create laws and establish a state budget. Legislative authority and responsibilities include passing bills on public policy matters, setting levels for state spending, raising and lowering taxes, and voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
